Purple Heart Day is observed on August 7 each year and is a time for Americans to remember and honor the U.S. service members wounded or killed by enemy action, terrorist attacks, or as a result of hostile forces. The Purple Heart is a solemn symbol of sacrifice for those injured or lost in the line of duty.
